2013 has been quite a year. It was probably the most interesting year because it was full of many ups and downs. I learned a lot about myself, my faith, and who I am as a Child of God. These lessons didn’t come easily, but I am grateful for them.
I had coffee today with my dear friend Kate. She and I met way back in freshman year in high school and thankfully have stayed friends all these years. We were talking about things that we’ve both come through during high school, college, and beyond. She said something about how going through all the hardships when I was younger made me a much stronger and resilient person. And she’s right – going through rough patches now is still rough and can hurt – but I’m finding that I tend to not dwell on things as much as I did when I was younger.
So as 2013 leaves us tomorrow, I will say goodbye to dwelling in the past and say hello to new beginnings. I start at Millersville University for English Ed and am very excited to pursue this dream. I trust that God has big plans for my life and I can’t wait to see what they may be!
But to quote Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter:
“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that.”
